Leadership, as we’ve come to know it conventionally, often revolves around authority, power plays, and hierarchical structures. It’s a deeply entrenched paradigm that has persisted for generations. The archetypal leader in this model is expected to be assertive, competitive, and sometimes even ruthless to attain success.

However, the pertinent question is whether this age-old leadership paradigm truly serves the needs of our evolving world or if it’s time to consider a paradigm shift.

The Challenge of Heart-Centred Leadership

Heart-centred leadership challenges the conventional norms of leadership by placing human connection, empathy, and collaboration at its very core. It acknowledges that leadership is not solely about achieving personal objectives; rather, it’s about uplifting and empowering those we lead.

Servant Leadership: Instead of wielding authority like a blunt instrument, heart-centred leaders serve their teams. They prioritise the well-being and growth of their team members above all else.

Purpose-Driven Leadership: Heart-centred leaders are driven by a higher purpose—a mission that extends beyond personal gain. They inspire others through their passion and unwavering commitment to a greater cause.

My own exploration of heart-centred leadership began during my military career, where I had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of this approach. The traditional command-and-control style often left soldiers feeling detached and disengaged. It became evident to me that a different approach was needed.
